Hood River County

Beautiful, pristine, historic Hood River. The county seat, the city of Hood River, has a population just shy of 25,000 and is a hotbed for outdoor recreation. Many people choose to live in Hood River and work remotely or commute to the Portland/Vancouver area despite the travel distance—a testament to the beautiful and intoxicating natural beauty of the mighty Columbia River and its surrounds. Pick apples, pears and cherries in the bountiful farms along the Fruit Loop. Mountain bike the hills and windsurf across the river. There’s a never ending list of wild and wonderful scenes to capture. Take for example the astonishing Bridge of the Gods outside of Cascade Locks! This steel truss cantilever bridge connects Oregon and Washington and is the official crossing for the Pacific Crest Trail. This bridge also found fame in 1927 when Charles Lindbergh flew the Spirit of St. Louis over the bridge, and then, turned and flew back under the bridge, before continuing to the Portland Airport.
